Training and Certifications Impact
Salaries for IT and Business Professionals, According to 2010 IT
Salary Survey Conducted by Global Knowledge and TechRepublic
Riyadh (KSA) – March 2, 2010 –
Global Knowledge,
the worldwide leader in IT and business training, and TechRepublic,
a leading online community for IT professionals, today announced
the availability of the 2010 IT Skills and
Salary Report. This year's IT salary survey yielded more
respondents than any other in the industry, with a participant base
of more than 19,500 IT and business professionals.
Among the key findings in this year’s IT salary survey:
Training and Certifications Impact Salary Professionals who took IT
or business-related training during the past year earned an average
of $3,000 more than those who did not. In particular, professionals
who had earned an IT or project management certification during the
past five years earned an average of $5,000 more than their
counterparts.
Overall, Salaries Showed Little-to-No Growth during 2009 The
average salary for respondents was $82,115, up less than one
percent over what was reported in the 2009 version of this IT
salary survey.
Job Satisfaction Is Linked Closely with Salary IT and business
professionals who were most satisfied with their jobs were also the
highest paid. In addition, the biggest factor influencing job
satisfaction was having a competitive salary, with 88% of
professionals replying that this was important.
Organizations Reveal Hot Skill Sets To Have in 2010 Skill sets
that organizations will be looking to add this year include project
management, cloud computing, virtualization, data security, and
business analysis, among others.
Most Believe Economic Conditions Will Remain the Same for 2010
Fifty-nine percent of the respondents to the IT salary survey
believe that during the next 6–12 months, economic conditions will
remain the same. However, one-third of professionals think they
will improve.
The Global Knowledge/TechRepublic 2010 IT Skills and Salary
Report was conducted online from October 19–November 15, 2009.
